Don't you just take the past & put it in a room in the basement & lock the door & never go in there? That's what I do. And then you meet someone special and all you want to do is toss them the key, say "Open up step inside." But you can't because it's dark and there are demons.

这部电影从历史的角度探讨与反思了不同的种族群体或阶级文化之间的碰撞、摩擦与融合。苏族人、邓巴中尉、美国殖民者、外族入侵者、狼与马等自然界生物，你会看到任何两者都会有矛盾冲突，可是矛盾冲突的解决方式却各不相同，看过之后如鲠在喉，对历史批判性的悲剧结尾也只能付之一声叹息。
